Responsible and Ethical Conduct at MIT

MIT is committed to responsible and ethical conduct in the classroom, the workplace, and the laboratory. MIT's Statement of Responsible and Ethical Conduct describes the Institute's dedication to ethical practices and serves as MIT's Code of Business Ethics and Conduct under federal law.

MIT Policies

  • MIT Policies & Procedures guide faculty and staff members in the pursuit of Institute objectives and in relations with the community at large. Some of these policies apply to the entire Institute community.
  • MIT's Employment Policy Manual provides employment policies for employees in non-academic roles, including the administrative, sponsored research staff, support staff.
  • The Mind & Hand Book is a guide of MIT's expectations for all undergraduate and graduate students.

Education & Training

MIT offers compliance training in various areas across the Institute. The MIT Learning Center, accessible through Atlas, provides an array of online and in-person training opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. The trainings range in subject matter from environmental health and safety (EHS) - which has a full suite of required and recommended trainings - to sponsored research, campus safety, and human resources.
